ABOUT THE BOOK
The cultural and creative industries are among the world’s fastest-growing sectors, expanding at an estimated 8% annually and creating thousands of opportunities across media, marketing, design, entertainment, technology, and the arts. Despite this growth, many young people are still introduced primarily to traditional career paths, with limited exposure to the wide range of creative professions now shaping the global economy.
Future Makers: A Guide to 30 Creative Careers was created by Jamaican author and marketing professional Joel Nomdarkham as a response to this gap. Inspired by the need for more conversations about creative careers in schools, the book introduces children to 30 real-world professions through engaging storytelling and relatable examples. Supported by accessible video content, the project brings these careers to life by featuring real professionals working across the creative industries, helping young people see new possibilities for their future.

LitSummer is all about making reading part of the summer fun. Throughout July and August, I’ll be randomly gifting children across Jamaica a copy of Future Makers along with a Burger King gift voucher. My hope is that every child gets the chance to enjoy a good book, a great meal, and discover new possibilities for their future. Sign up below for a chance to be selected.
